To make the music of Sonic the Hedgehog, plenty of artists from around the world have had to work together, resulting in the series having a soundtrack that is as eclectic as it is enchanting. However, while fast-paced gameplay and Sonic's striking appearance may be the elements that stand in the foreground when one thinks of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, it is important not to forget the impact the accompanying soundtracks have had not just on the series, but on gaming as a whole.Īlthough the quality of Sonic the Hedgehog games has varied over the years, the soundtracks have always remained top-notch, spanning across multiple genres including electro, hip-hop, rock, and swelling orchestral numbers. His speed is a central aspect of Sonic the Hedgehog games, which let players partake in some high-speed platforming while collecting golden rings. The hedgehog can be easily identified by his blue quills, red shoes, and ability to move so fast he turns into a blur. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set for release in spring 2022! News of Tom Holkenborg's return comes to us from Film Music Reporter.Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the most recognizable characters in gaming, and it is not hard to understand why. With a lot of the old team back, and a lot of promising new faces, this is shaping up to be an exciting movie. Whatever ends up happening in this film, fans new and old to the infamous hedgehog have something to be excited about. The chaos emerald especially was always linked to the character of Knuckles. We also got a few shots of the legendary chaos emerald, which served as a major plot device all through the Sonic franchise. While no plot details have been released about the film yet, the trailer consists of quite a few easter eggs showcasing throwbacks to the popular 1998 Dreamcast game, Sonic Adventure. Paired with upbeat music, we got to see the return of Sonic, Robotnik, and our first look at Tails and Knuckles. It wasn’t until The 2021 Game Awards that we finally got our first trailer. While the film has a critic’s score of 63%, its audience score currently rests at a much higher 93%.Įver since the film’s surprise success, along with the surprising cameo of Tails at the end, fans have been chomping at the bit for any news of the planned sequel. The rocky road to Sonic’s big screen reveal landed in a $319.7 million worldwide income, beating out Marvel’s decade-long streak (2010-2019) of having the highest-grossing superhero genre film of the year. The original 2020 film has a production that has gone down in infamy, with designs redone, fan reactions, and an unforgettable performance by Jim Carrey. Joining him as Sonic’s fellow animal companions are Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Miles “Tails” Prower the two-tailed fox, and Idris Elba as Knuckles the Echidna. Ben Schwartz is, of course, returning to voice the infamous blue hedgehog. Also returning as producers for the sequel are Neal H. Whittington’s previous works include The Lego Batman Movie, The Lego Ninjago Movie, and two episodes of Green Eggs and Ham. John Whittington is joining them for the screenplay for the sequel as well. Pat Casey and Josh Miller are returning as writers for the sequel’s screenplay. An adult male makes her feel unsafe and tells her about the circumstances of her birth in a pretty awkward conversation, though I’m not sure a middle-grade reader would catch what they were talking about. Understandable in this case, but not my favorite theme.Ĥ. The main character went around her mom a lot during the story. Believe it or not, one of the most normal characters in this book was “Mystic Millie”, and while it was pretty clear that all her stuff was fake, there were many mentions of auras, reflexology, etc., and a “hypnosis” session on the main character.ģ. Personally, this is not something I like seeing portrayed in a kids’ book. He was accurately unpredictable like all characters in mythology are, and it was flippantly mentioned that he had multiple wives. This is a mermaid book, so Neptune (a.k.a. Since my thoughts on this book are pretty 50/50, I’ll start with what I disliked so we can end on a positive note. One of my younger sisters and I discovered this book at the thrift store a few weeks ago, and the gorgeous cover and quirky title intrigued us both. I gave it 2 stars for concept and an overall positive message about families, but the book was predictable, whiny, and not one that I plan to read any sequels to. Would it really have been THAT hard for the author to look at a measuring tape before describing their 7th grade heroine as three feet eight inches tall? My first graders are taller than that! The final straw for me was when the author described Emily's height. I understand that the author might be trying to show his imperfections, but how can someone be a god, when they're just as petulant as the seventh grader who's lecturing them? I guess I expect more from my gods than individuals who get blustery over being addressed as "sir". Neptune, although he does the right thing in the end, was a disappointment too. The speech Emily gives Neptune, the sea god, at the end is suppose to be a moving defense of love and families but came across as trite. Projects she has produced, acquired, and greenlit have garnered critical acclaim and entertained audiences worldwide including: Okja, Bright, Death Note, A Very Murray Christmas, Beasts of No Nation, First They Killed My Father, The Two Popes, Murder Mystery, Klaus, and They Call Me Dolemite. The plot idea is interesting - a seventh grade girl finds out she's a mermaid when her legs become a tail the first time she's submerged in water for swim lessons - but the writing itself is weak (unless you like books with manipulative "you aren't my friend unless you do this" girl talk). This gives Gourmand more forward momentum than a normal throw, allowing them to cross wider gaps than by normal throw-boosting. Gourmand is completely immune to Spears while rolling.ĭealing 3 damage on hit, throwing a Spear instantly exhausts Gourmand and initiates a roll. Rolling can also be used for defense, dealing 1.0 damage and stunning creatures for 2.4 times as long as sliding. Gourmand can roll for a significantly longer time than other Slugcats, making it another good option for traversing flat areas. Gourmand is completely immune to spears while sliding. Sliding can also be used for defense, dealing 0.25 damage and temporarily stunning creatures. Gourmand has a very powerful slide, able to traverse up to ~2/3rds of the screen, making it ideal for traversing flat areas quickly. However, it is easier for Gourmand to enter and remain in an exhaustive state when near predators, in rare cases being triggered only by throwing a rock. Excessive sliding, jumping, and throwing Spears cause Gourmand to enter this state. Gourmand recovers energy when all controls are released. When exhausted, Gourmand's Spear throws do less damage and travel a shorter distance. When in this state, Gourmand's speed and jump height are significantly reduced. Gourmand has an exhaustion mechanic similar to that of Starving. 3.0 only when not exhausted - reduced to 0.3 when exhausted. Throwing skill affects velocity and trajectory. The list of foods, in suggested order (entries marked with "or" require only one of the two to be eaten):Ībilities & Attributes Stats The food tracker is found above the Gourmand's food bar, and shows any items they have eaten so far, and a flashing icon of the next suggested food, though foods may be eaten in any order. Gourmand also has the optional objective of completing their food tracker with 22 different types of food, which awards an alternate ending and unlocks Slugpups in both the Arena mode and all subsequent campaigns for the Gourmand themself, the Survivor and the Hunter, where they randomly spawn in Shelters. The Unfortunate Development part of Five Pebbles contains less Rot than usual, but more than Hunter.Garbage Wastes is more dangerous, containing more Rot than usual but less than Hunter.Predators are more common and difficult. The Slime Mold items in Gourmand's starting area are a unique larger variant, providing two food pips when consumed rather than just one.įood: Karma: Area: Shaded Citadel World Changes The Gourmand's opening cutscene shows an illustration of Gourmand surrounded by Slime Mold, which then fades to show Gourmand in-game, holding Slime Mold in Shaded Citadel. Holding Up and Grab inputs while holding two different food items eats them as a meal, granting an additional food pip. Similarly to Hunter, the Gourmand can eat from the bodies of slain creatures, though this gives 1/2 the food pips it normally would (save for Centipedes, which all Slugcats except Saint can eat). 7 food pips are required to hibernate, while up to 4 may be stored for the next cycle. If we hope to maintain our quality of life, companies like Waste Connections ( TSX:WCN) will continue to be relied on. As long as humans are around, we’ll continue to generate trash as a byproduct of our daily lives. For example, consider garbage collection companies. When looking for stocks to hold through a recession, it’s important to find companies that operate businesses that shouldn’t be affected too much. This company may focus on garbage, but its stock is far from it In this article, I discuss three stable TSX stocks to buy if there’s a recession. Instead, focus on bolstering your portfolio with stocks that could thrive in those situations. Because of that, I believe investors shouldn’t spend too much time or energy worrying about a gloomy economy. However, it’s very difficult to know if a recession has occurred until after the fact. These dips caused many investors to worry about an upcoming recession. This year, the stock market entered bear territory several times. However, the Lightroom Plan (1TB) is $9.99/£9.98/month and offers the same amount of storage but only includes Lightroom, and not Photoshop or Lightroom Classic. The Photography Plan (1TB) is exactly the same but ups the standard 20GB of Cloud storage to 1TB and rings in at $19.99/£19.97/month. This includes Lightroom mobile, Photoshop on the iPad and 20GB of Cloud storage space. To purchase the Photography Plan (20GB) it’ll cost $9.99/£9.98/month and it comes with Lightroom, Lightroom Classic and Photoshop. Two versions bundle together Lightroom, Lightroom Classic and Photoshop but there’s only one option that provides Lightroom as an individual purchase. The 3D Settings tab on the left-hand side of the Nvidia Control Panel is arguably the most important when it comes to gaming, but it’s equally important for creativity. Let’s take a look at each of the settings and what they do, as well as some suggestions on what you might like to set them to. The Nvidia Control Panel is easy enough to navigate, but there are so many options to choose from, it may seem confusing at first. Smoother gameplay and better, sharper, brighter visuals are all a possibility when the settings are properly adjusted. You can use individual games’ settings menus to decide your GPU settings, but optimizing your graphics settings in the Control Panel can have a huge impact on your gaming experience. The easiest way is to simply right-click on the desktop and choose Nvidia Control Panel from the dropdown menu. Even as far as I could push the card on air, the card never went above 68☌, showing us how amazing the Strix cooler really is.There are two ways to launch the Control Panel. With the GPU running at 2055 MHz, our max temp recorded using GPU Tweak II was 68☌. That being 14592, not that the Time Spy score matters. So, I left the memory slider at +350 on the memory as this was where my highest overall score was with Time Spy. After the memory slider was past +350 on the core, the overall Time Spy score started to decrease. Although the memory slider can be nearly maxed out and still finish the benchmark. Next, we started playing with the memory clock speed. Anything past that, 3DMark, and in some cases the entire system, would crash. The highest we could get the boost clock to was an increase of +55 on the core which gave us an overall clock speed of 2055 MHz. Running 3DMark Time Spy in after each increase to the boost clock. Next, we started increasing the GPU Boost Clock by increments of 10. In the case of the Strix 2080 Ti, it increased the power target by 25 to 125%. First, we increased to power target as high as possible. We set the GPU Tweak II to professional mode and started tweaking. Next, we started playing around with the clock speed of both the memory and the GPU clock speed using GPU Tweak II. I got my answer, 89☌ with a max overclock of 2040 MHz. I just wanted to see how hot the top card would get. Just for fun, we attempted to overclock the top card, with SLI disabled. While running FurMark the max temp hit 60☌. After close to an hour of benchmarking we ran FurMark as one of our benchmarks. Next, we started testing the games we benchmarked for this review. The Strix 2080 Ti, at stock, idled at 38☌. The first temp recorded was the stock idle temperature after a couple hours at idle. We do our best to keep the ambient temperature right around 20☌ during testing. The ambient temperature at the time of testing was 20☌ or about 68☏. The max temp while gaming for well over an hour was also recorded. To Validate our overclock, we ran 3DMark Time Spy. To monitor temperatures, we used both GPU Tweak II and Hardware Monitor. We only overclocked the GPU and the i9-9900K at its stock speeds. For overclocking, we used ASUS GPU Tweak II for monitoring and adjusting GPU clock and memory speeds. Victor and Spectrier, meanwhile, will be available by completing a new event, making them easily accessible to all 50 million players. In Unite - a cross-platform MOBA for mobile and Switch - a new battle mode where players face "an onslaught of wild Pokémon" is being added, as is the ability to unlock the ever-popular Mewtwo. New species from the latest main series games, Scarlet and Violet, were also teased for later this year.Ĭontinuing an overarching Scarlet and Violet theme, Café Remix is also adding Paldean Pokémon Tatsugiri. Following on from the seventh anniversary in July, London, Osaka and New York are all hosting Go Fest events this month with a remote event to follow, through which players can obtain the Mythical Diancie for the first time in-game.
